BLACK HISTORY MONTH 2022 Schedule of Events
Monday Jan. 31st – Black History Month Kickoff with the BSU
7:30 PM in Media Room Below Commons Dining Hall
Join us for a presentation on the history of Black History Month and the importance of knowing Black History. Raffle tickets for our BHM prize giveaway will be given to all attendees.
Saturday February 5th – Black History Month Movie Night with the BSU: Judas and the Black Messiah (SGA Funded)
7:00PM in HUB Fireplace Lounge
Join us as we stream “Judas and the Black Messiah” in the Hub Fireplace Lounge. Movie description: “Offered a plea deal by the FBI, William O’Neal infiltrates the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party to gather intelligence on Chairman Fred Hampton.” (Rated R) Snacks and drinks will be provided! Raffle tickets for our BHM prize giveaway will be given to all attendees.
Monday Feb. 7th – Black History Month Discussion Series: African Influence on Latin Culture ft. Spanish Club
7:30 PM in Media Room Below Commons Dining Hall
Join the leaders of the Black Student Union and the Spanish Club for a presentation and cross-cultural conversation about African influences on Latin Culture. Raffle tickets for our BHM prize giveaway will be given to all attendees.
Wednesday Feb. 9th – Black History Month Game Night with the BSU

Join us for an evening of games and fun as the Black Student Union hosts a game of “Black Jeopardy,” a jeopardy game filled with black historical and pop culture trivia. Raffle tickets for our BHM prize giveaway will be given to all attendees.
Tuesday Feb. 15th – Black History Month Discussion Series: “Let’s Talk AAVE”
7:30 PM in Media Room Below Commons Dining Hall
Join the Black Student Union for an important discussion on African American Vernacular English (AAVE) and its influence on pop culture. Raffle tickets for our BHM prize giveaway will be given to all attendees.
Thursday Feb. 17th -(Nonalcoholic) Paint n Sip with the BSU: African Art (SGA Funded)
7:30 PM in Media Room Below Commons Dining Hall
Join the Black Student Union for a night of appreciating African art while painting and enjoying a selection of nonalcoholic beverages! Snacks and drinks included! Raffle tickets for our BHM prize giveaway will be given to all attendees.
Monday Feb. 21st – Black History Month Discussion Series: A Conversation of Intersections
7:30 PM in Media Room Below Commons Dining Hall
Join the Black Student Union for the final event in our BHM Discussion Series as we discuss the intersectionality of black identities with other identities and experiences on college campuses and around the world. Raffle tickets for our BHM prize giveaway will be given to all attendees.
Friday Feb. 25th – End of Black History Month Celebration Presented by BSU and the Office of Student Engagement
