The Women of Southwestern PA is a group of women with the goals of philanthropy and networking. She and her staff have presented sexuality education to over 250,000 young people and mentored over 15,000 young parents.  She is the author of 37 books, she created and continues writing a weekly column for parents and young people in the Observer Reporter newspaper, called Ask Mary Jo, and she has received many professional awards, including the NAACP Human Rights Award in 2008.
